Common Questions
How does the camera scanner work?
BurnLens uses on-device AI — running entirely on your iPhone, no internet connection needed — to identify gym equipment through your camera. Once recognized, it pulls calorie burn data for that machine type and applies your personal metrics (age, weight, height, activity level) for a personalized estimate.
Is my camera data stored or uploaded?
No. Camera data is processed in real time on your device only. It is never stored, saved, or transmitted. We have no access to any image or video from your camera. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How accurate are the calorie estimates?
Estimates are personalized to your BMR and provide a solid approximation. They are not medical measurements — actual burn varies based on intensity, fitness level, and individual metabolism. Use them as an informed guide, not a clinical reading.
The camera isn't recognizing my machine. What do I do?
Try these steps:
- Make sure the machine is well-lit and fully visible in frame
- Hold the phone steady about 3–5 feet from the machine
- Try showing the machine's brand panel or display screen
- Verify camera permissions are enabled in iOS Settings → BurnLens → Camera
If still unrecognized, email support@burnlensfitness.com with the machine brand and model.
Do I need an account?
No. BurnLens works without an account. Your profile and workout data live locally on your device. No sign-up, no login, no subscription required for core features.
How do I update my profile metrics?
Tap the profile icon in the top corner → Edit Profile. Update age, weight, height, or activity level at any time. Changes apply to all future scans immediately.
How do I delete my data?
All data is local. Go to Settings → Privacy within the app and tap "Delete All Data," or simply uninstall BurnLens. If iCloud backup is on, remove app data from your iCloud settings too.
The app crashed. What should I do?
Force-quit the app, make sure iOS and BurnLens are both up to date, then relaunch. If crashes continue, email support@burnlensfitness.com with your iPhone model and iOS version.
What iOS version is required?
BurnLens requires iOS 15.0 or later. iOS 16+ is recommended for the best on-device AI performance.
